Headmaster's Welcome
Welcome to The Montclair Kimberley Academy and thank you for
your interest in our school. I
encourage you to thoroughly explore our website as an introduction to our award-winning
and exceptional Pre-K-12 coeducational independent day school. If you want to learn more about
attending MKA, please feel free to contact our Admissions Office - admissions@mka.org.
MKA is a robust school community with one thousand students
on three campuses (Pre-K-3rd, 4th-8th, 9th-12th). We function as one school through a clearly articulated
curriculum whose hallmarks include our unique and longstanding Pre-K-12
Signature Programs: Ethics, Core Works, and The Writing Challenge, as well a nationally recognized program for integrating technology in the curriculum and an environment that provides 1:1 laptop learning for students in grades 4-12. At MKA the work of our teachers and the
lives of our students are shaped by our Mission Statement and the ideals of our
motto, “Knowledge, Vision, Integrity.”
Founded in 1887, we are a school that promotes and honors
hard work, creativity, civility and generosity of spirit. Our curriculum provides an extraordinary
array of academic, artistic, athletic and leadership opportunities for
students. We are a diverse,
dynamic and cohesive community and we continually strive to provide what is
best for our students.
While over a third of our families live in Montclair, we
draw students from eight counties and over seventy townships. Families and students choose MKA
because it is a challenging and supportive college preparatory school that
seeks to know and fulfill the potential of every young person. Our graduates attend many of the finest
colleges and universities in the United States. To a person they report back to us on the superb MKA
preparation for college, graduate school and life beyond.
Our teachers are coaches, advisors, mentors, artists,
scholars and athletes. They have
chosen MKA for the caliber of the student body, the quality of our programs,
our positive partnership with parents, and an institutional commitment to each
teacher’s professional growth that is second to none. Over 75% of the faculty hold advanced degrees and 11 have earned doctorates. Together, we provide a challenging, transformative and
nurturing school environment.
I hope you will choose to visit MKA and experience our
school in action.
With all best wishes,

Thomas W. Nammack
